It's the 30th anniversary of The Breakfast Club, the day in fictional history where five teenagers gathered for Saturday detention at Shermer High School.

The film's storyline takes place on March 24, 1984, exactly 30 years ago. That was the day the Jock, the Princess, the Brain, the Criminal, and the Basket Case all took seats in their school's library and all came to life-changing realizations of who they were.

The classic teen drama starred Judd Nelson, Emilio Estevez, Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy, and Anthony Michael Hall.

John Hughes wrote and directed the film, which was released in 1985. The movie's opening scene includes the song "(Don't You) Forget About Me" by Simple Minds and the spoken words: â??Saturday, March 24, 1984.â??
