The nationwide outbreak of the West Nile virus is hitting close to home. The Lucas County Health Department has confirmed one case of West Nile in Lucas County and two cases pending.
Lucas County Health Commissioner Doctor David Grossman says that this was the perfect summer for this mosquito borne illness to thrive because it was so hot and dry. The mosquitoes that carry the illness like the hot and dry weather unlike other mosquitoes that thrive in wet conditions.
