After years of construction and even longer in planning, the new US 24-Fort to Port Highway will be open for traffic from Toledo to Napoleon. As of now the scheduled date to open is Wednesday August 29. The exact opening date could change due to construction schedules and weather.
Before the highway opens to traffic, ODOT will host an "opening ceremony" complete with a ribbon cutting and a walk- run-bike ride on Tuesday August 28.
The final details are still being worked out for the opening. We will update you on exact dates and times when they become available.
According to the INDOT website, the last portion of the Fort to Port Highway still under construction between New Haven, Indiana and the Ohio state line is scheduled to be completed in December 2012. Once it's finished, US 24 will be four lanes from Toledo to Fort Wayne, Indiana.
