1 ton of cocaine trafficked from Texas to Toledo

Ten years and more than a ton of cocaine later, the U.S. Department of Justice has identified the group behind a drug trafficking operation that reached from Mexico and Texas to Toledo.

According to the 21-count felony drug indictment, 28 people were involved in smuggling 2,200 pounds of cocaine and 220 pounds of marijuana into the area.

During a news conference on Thursday, authorities announced nine of the defendants were arrested in Ohio, including Joe Arguelles, Francisco Rodriguez, Angelo Pecina, David S. Smith, Marcus A. Barrera, Cato L. Hornbeak, Leopoldo Pecina, Jose Rodriguez III, and Joseph Malino.
