The Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a four-vehicle crash in Ottawa County that left two dead and several injured.
The crash happened around 4:49 p.m. along SR-2 in Erie Township.
Police say 78-year-old Jerald Zimmer of Fremont failed to yield while turning left into the entrance to Camp Perry. Zimmerâ??s vehicle struck a Dodge Caravan, driven by 34-year-old Rosalinda Guerra of Toledo. Guerraâ??s vehicle then hit a Chevrolet Sonic, driven by 54-year-old Harold Cumberland of Hilliard. Hilliardâ??s vehicle was then pushed into a Lexus driven by 59-year-old Anna Murphy of Kenton.
Zimmer was LifeFlighted from the scene to St. Vincentâ??s ER in Toledo where he was pronounced dead. Zimmerâ??s passenger, 74-year-old Rosanne Zimmer, was pronounced dead at the scene.
32-year-old Alexandra Davis of Toledo, one of several passengers in the Dodge Caravan, was taken to Magruder ER with incapacitating injuries. Several other passengers were treated and released at Magruder ER. Drivers of the other vehicles sustained minor or no injuries.
No citations have been issued, and police say drugs or alcohol do not appear to be involved in the crash.
