4th of July weekend proves deadly in local waterways

It was a deadly holiday weekend in the waters of Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. Three men have drowned in three separate incidents.
A Toledo man died drowned Saturday night at the Monroe County/Toledo North KOA Campground in Petersburg, Michigan. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says Michael L. Jackson, 39, attempted to swim across the pond. They say he got to the middle and then went down in about 12 feet deep water. He was pulled to safety after about 4 minutes underwater. Jackson was pronounced dead at Flower Hospital.
On Sunday, a Morenci, Michigan man drowned in a pond at the Green Valley Campground in Lenawee County. The Lenawee County Sheriff's Office say Michael Morris, 24, did a flip off a floating dock and never surfaced. Witnesses say he went under around 8:40pm Sunday night. His body was recovered around 1:30am Monday morning.
Also on Sunday, a boater drowned off the coast of Kelleys Island in Erie County, Ohio. The Erie County Sheriff's office says foul play is not suspected in the death of Daniel Lee Abel, 53, of Waterford, Mich. Abel's 26-foot Trojan boat was found near the body Monday morning .
