83-year-old driver arrested after fleeing fatal pedestrian crash

Thu, 13 Feb 2014 12:10:48 GMT — Officials have a driver in custody for a pedestrian hit and killed on West Alexis Road Wednesday night.83-year-old Robert Conboy of Toledo, hit a pedestrian in the curb lane near the 3500-block of West Alexis and Rambo, according to a Toledo Police report.The pedestrian, 69-year-old Donald Galdys, was sent to the hospital, but later died from injuries sustained in the crash.Several 911 calls came in reporting the driver fled the scene. One of the witnesses from the crash followed Conboy's car and reported the license plate and location to authorities.Authorities later tracked down the license plate and arrested Conboy.Conboy is charged with failure to stop after an accident or collision.He is currently being held at the Lucas County Corrections Center on a $5,000 surety bond. He is due in court for another preliminary hearing on Friday, Feb. 21.
