A Christmas celebration to warm the hearts of others

A cookie decorating station was popular at the Christmas party.

Volunteers helped at holiday events at Helping Hands of St. Louis as a way to give back for the gifts they receive.

It's a new component of the Catholic Charitiesâ?? Project Bethlehem program.

They warmed the hearts of those in need on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Paul Cook, the Helping Hands of St. Louis facility director, mentioned that the party was more than just a celebration.

Cook said, "we could not do this with out the other helping hands. We do this mainly for the kidsâ?? the kids are the victims here. The families try to do what they can. If it was not for us, or other organizations like us, they just would not make it."

Several charities made donations for Wednesdayâ??s celebration. The Knights of Columbus donated winter coats in kids and adult sizes.

Children were also able to pick out a Christmas gift for their parents then, with help, wrap it so that it is ready to be placed under the tree. About 150 children attended the party.
