Over 100 children received holiday gifts today during the Secret Santa Party at Neighboorhood Properties Inc., located at 2753 W. Central Ave. in Kenwood Plaza.

Santa delivered presents to children of formerly homeless families with mental illness with support from the NPI Secret Santa Program and local volunteers. Volunteers contributed $7,000 in gifts and cash donations, giving NPI gifts of clothes and toys for children and more.

67 families and 110 children took part in the Secret Santa Party.

Peg Morrison, Manager of Communications and Development for Neighborhood Properties Inc., commented on what it means for the families.

Morrison said, "it is a real boost for the familiesâ?¦it is a boost for the parents recovering, for the kids getting back that feeling of hope and just living a normal life again, a normal stable life. It means the world to us."

Surplus funds went to the Housing for Hope Fund, which provides essentials such as towels, soap, cleaning supplies and food to those with nothing.
