Accused killer still faces death penalty if convicted

Johnny Clarke and Lisa Straub

A judge has refused to take the death penalty off the table for one of two suspects charged with murdering a Springfield Township couple in January 2011.

Cameo Pettaway's lawyers were trying to get the judge to dismiss the death specification but he refused.

Pettaway is accused of breaking into a home, using duct tape to restrain Johnny Clarke and Lisa Straub and then suffocating them by putting bags over their heads.

He's not the only charged with their murder. Samuel Williams is facing trial next month.
