Derrick Wells and his business partner, Shneka McGowan, searched for a year before settling on a storefront on Adams Street to open their new business, and they haven't looked back.
"I think it's a great location because we have residents nearby and our store has everything for everyone," Mr. Wells said.
D & S Collabos sells used furniture and assorted household items. Across the street is the Adams Street Antique and Art store run by Connie Hoffmann. "Business is phenomenal; uptown is very, very active," Ms. Hoffman said.
The economic boon in the uptown section of downtown Toledo has been spurred by the large numbers of young professionals who have moved into the neighborhood's apartment complexes. These residents have multiple restaurants, bars and shops from which to choose.
