Ohio State Highway Patrol officers issued 308 citations between 12 a.m. Friday and Noon on Saturday.
Sgt. Jason R. Metzger of the Toledo post says federal overtime funds allow for added law enforcement during labor day weekend.
â??On any given day, we could have at least two troopers on the roadway,â?? Sgt. Metzger said Saturday. â??As of today, we have at least five.â??
Eighty-two of the 309 tickets were seat belt citations. Sixteen were for driving under the influence. The added enforcement period will continue through Monday.
â??We try to do it every holiday weekend,â?? Sgt. Metzger said. â??Thereâ??s an increased amount of traffic, people trying to get from Point A to Point B, trying to get to familyâ??s houses or events.â??
