TEMPERANCE, Mich. - Local, state, and federal authorities continue their search Friday for a Bedford Township teen missing under suspicious circumstances since late Thursday night.
18-year-old Hayley Turner was last heard from around 10 p.m. Thursday. According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, shortly before 10 p.m. Thusday, Hayley told her family she was going to a nearby video store. At approximately 10:08 p.m., Hayley called a friend and said she saw a man lying in a ditch at the intersection of Dean Road and Crabb Road. Seconds later, she told the friend that the man had a gun.
The friend immediately called Hayley's father who rushed to the scene to find Hayley's idling vehicle unoccupied.
Witnesses say that about 10 minutes prior to the incident, they saw a car off the side of the road facing westbound on Dean Road.
Michigan State Police K-9 units have been dispatched, in addition to air searches being conducted in the area.
Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone said his officed received a report Friday morning that a man and woman were seen walking in the area of Telegraph and Erie around 4 a.m. Friday. The man is described as white male 18-24 years old wearing khaki pants and a blue shirt. The woman was described as a white female with shoulder-length brown hair, wearing black pants and a red shirt, fitting Hayley's description.
At Friday morning's press conference, Hayley's mother pleaded for her daughter's safe return. "Hayley, if you can hear me, please call us," Christy Turner said. "We want you safely home, no questions asked."
