Police in Sandusky County are investigating an apparent murder-suicide after a man and woman were found dead inside their home.
According to the Sandusky Register, Ernest Sears, 75, is believed to have used a revolver to shoot and kill his wife, Gloria Sears, 46, before turning the gun on himself. Sandusky County sheriff's detective James Consolo told the Sandusky Register that the couple was in the process of a divorce and Ernest Sears was distraught about the breakup.
The murder-suicide occurred between 9 p.m. Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday, Consolo said. Gloria Sears' 21-year-old son returned home at about 1:45 this morning and discovered the bodies in a bathroom inside the home at 622 County Road 191, just outside of Bellevue.
Sheriff's deputies, state BCI agents and Bellevue police officers were still gathering evidence inside the home at sunrise.
