Appeal in Ottawa Co. horse cruelty case

The Oak Harbor woman convicted of starving dozens of horses to death is appealing.

Robin Vess' new attorney told an Ohio Appeals Court that his client received bad legal advice before her trial and was found guilty on testimony by witnesses who were out to get her.

In January 2010, The Ottawa County Humane Society seized several horses from her farm. She was found guilty last year on 42 animal cruelty counts and ordered to serve 42 days in jail.

The appellate judges will make a decision in the coming weeks.
