Manpower, a global staffing company that matches job seekers with potential employers, released the findings of a survey that indicates companies plan to increase hiring in the 3rd quarter of 2012. Patty Bernal, Operations Manager for Manpower's Maumee office explains that 19 percent of Toledo companies surveyed say they will add more workers this summer. "We have a lot of activity right now, we are seeing increases in the manufacturing and clerical companies that we work with," Ms. Bernal said. The survey of Toledo businesses also revealed that 8 percent of companies plan to decrease staffing and 70 percent plan to stay at their current levels.
Gbenga Ajilore, Professor of Economics at the University of Toledo says the report is a positive development in an otherwise slow economic recovery. "The biggest thing that I see is a demand for skilled , manufacturing and auto jobs; union jobs are always going to be in demand," Dr. Ajilore said.
Chrysler, British Petroleum and Hollywood Casino Toledo are three companies that plan to hire new workers in the 3rd quarter of 2012.
