Arrest made in connection with charter school burglary

Toledo Police have arrested a juvenile for receiving property stolen from the Aurora Academy charter school. The school was burglarized early Tuesday morning. A television and more than two dozen laptop computers were taken. The burglars also trashed the school, breaking windows and spraying the contents of four fire extinguishers throughout the halls and in several classrooms. Aurora Academy executive director Cindy Wilson has been receiving updates on the investigation from detectives. "From what I hear they are neighborhood children," Ms. Wilson said. Sgt. Joe Heffernen of the Toledo Police Department said that investigators were conducting interviews to try to identify additional suspects.

After being closed for three days Aurora Academy re-opened on Friday just in time for the annual Christmas concert. 5th grader Nakiya Peters was one of many students glad to be back on campus. "I felt happy and I was excited we can come to school and be on the program," Ms. Peters said.
