Arrests made in Fremont fire started by Molotov cocktail

Fremont police have made an arrest in a suspicious fire that occurred Wednesday night at 707 Hayes Ave. in Fremont.

Fremont police have arrested Alexander Acala, 18, Nicholas Dahms, 18, and Mitchell Reibold, 21 in connection with the fire which was started by a Molotov Cocktail tossed into the home.

According to Fremont police, at approximately 11:40 PM Wednesday, someone tossed a bottle containing a flammable liquid at the Hayes Ave. residence. The family was able to extinguish the blaze and limit the damage to the home to approximately $500.

Detectives from the Fremont police as well as the State Fire Marshal investigated the incident and Thursday morning a search warrant was served at 500 Court St., apt 2c. Acala and Reibold were arrested at that residence. Dahms was arrested later Thursday morning.

Police would not comment on a motive in the arson.

All three suspects were charged with aggravated arson. Additional charges may be filed, pending investigation. They are incarcerated in the Sandusky County Jail awaiting arraignment Friday in Fremont Municipal Court.
