Americare Home Health Services and Healthy Toledo co-sponsored a public health forum at the Toledo Senior Center.

Around 50 people attended the event. Health officials provided information about the recent flu outbreak in Lucas County.

Dr. Anu Garg of the University of Toledo Medical Center gave a PowerPoint presentation about the flu. "As we reach the end of January, we still recommend the flu shot because 30 percent to 40 percent of flu cases happen in February," Dr. Garg said.

Toledo resident Keith Yowpp decided to get a flu shot after seeing news reports on Tuesday that a 29-year-old Toledo man had died from the flu.

"That was the motivation for me; that was the inspiration that made me jump up and do what I got to do to survive," Mr. Yowpp said.
