An autopsy report of the Ottawa Hills teen killed in a crash over the weekend confirms alcohol was in his system during the incident.
According to the Lucas County coroner's report, 18-year-old Brian Hoeflinger's blood alcohol level was 0.15 percent--more than seven times the legal limit for minor drivers--when he crashed his vehicle into a tree early Saturday.
Grief counselors were on hand to assist Ottawa Hills High School students dealing with the loss of their classmate on Monday. Students honored Hoeflinger's memory by wearing blue, since his dream was to attend the University of North Carolina and one day become an orthodontist.
"I don't know that you can put the tragedy into words. I mean, it is a young life lost. And a life that was full of potential," Ottawa Hills Superintendent Kevin Miller said.
