Barry Bagels founder dies at 65

TOLEDO -- The founder of one of the Toledo-area's most popular bagel restaurants has died.

Barry Greenblatt, founder of Toledo-based Barry Bagel', died Thursday. He was 65.

Before Thursday, if you ever dined inside the franchise's original Sylvania location, chances are you saw Barry. The cheerful bagel-maker greeted guests, took orders, and delivered trays to hundreds of loyal customers each day.

According to family members, Greenblatt suffered a suspected heart attack.

The first Barry Bagels location opened at the corner of Sylvania Avenue and Holland-Sylvania Road in 1972.
