BG store owner with stockpile of weapons pleads guilty

Richard Schmidt

A Toledo man is facing prison time after pleading guilty to possessing a cache of weapons and counterfeit goods.

47-year-old Richard Schmidt, who owned the Spindletop Sports Zone in Bowling Green, entered the plea in federal court on Tuesday.

The judge then found him guilty on charges that could send him to prison for up to 10 years.

Schmidt was arrested in December after federal agents raided his West Toledo home and his sports memorabilia store.
