BGSU receives bomb sniffing dogs

Each dog costs more than $12,000.

Bowling Green State University is one of three state universities receiving bomb sniffing dogs.

Campus officials showed off the K-9 unit on the BGSU campus Wednesday.

Ohio Public Safety Director, John Born, said itâ??s part of Ohio Gov. John Kasichâ??s plan to strengthen school safety for students ranging from preschool to college age.

BGSU Police Lieutenant John Steward said the dog, named Jerry, is trained in explosives.

Each dog costs more than $12,000. Theyâ??re being funded through federal grant money.
