Accident kills bicyclist in Genoa.

The Ottawa County Sheriffâ??s Office is investigating a fatal bicycle crash in Genoa that killed a woman riding for a good cause.

Emily Gagnon, 21, of Holliston, Massachusetts was struck from behind by a vehicle heading westbound on State Route 163. The accident happened around 7:30 Monday night near the intersection of State Road 163 at Nissen Road.

Gagnon was riding her bicycle from Masschusetts to San Francisco to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis.

The driver of the vehicle, Lynne Smith, 49, of Martin Ohio, was not injured. Smith's Ford Escape was towed from the scene.

The Ohio Highway Patrol confirms that the crash kept the road closed until just after midnight. Officials say Gagnon was wearing a helmet. Investigators do not suspect speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
