Blissfield Manufacturing expansion to add 73 jobs

Blissfield Manufacturing plans to add 73 jobs and update equipment

Blissfield Manufacturing announced Wednesday it plans to add 73 jobs within the next 3 years after the company closed its Jay Products facility in Portland, Ind. The production operations at Jay Products transferred to Blissfield, Mich.

â??As a family-owned business, we sincerely regret having to close our facility in Portland, Indiana. Decisions such as this are not made lightly; we value the people who have worked at Jay Products and have given so much,â?? CEO Blissfield Manufacturing Farver said.

Farver said in a press release the business needs to keep up with the automotive and environmental markets.

State and local business incentives will help fund the expansion. Blissfield Manufacturing hired Lenawee Now, a non-profit organization that helps expand local businesses, qualify for a grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and apply for Michigan New Jobs Training funding.

South Central Michigan Works and Jackson Community College will complete the job training. This comes at a time when the Village of Blissfield will decide to give a tax reduction or exemption of $1.5 million to update equipment.
