A fiery Wood County crash killed two people Sunday, rendering their bodies nearly unidentifiable, according to officials.
The identities of the two people killed in the single-vehicle crash on Sugar Creek Road near Scott Road have yet to be released. Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn said Tuesday that damage from the crash has made it difficult for identifications to be made; however, the Wood County Coroner's Office will be performing additional tests before releasing names.
The crash occurred around 6:15 p.m. Sunday. Deputies said the car was heading north on Sugar Creek Road when it struck a telephone pole, hit a tree, and then burst into flames.
Both occupants of the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.
