Body recovered in Sandusky house fire being investigated as homicide

Wed, 04 Dec 2013 15:26:03 GMT — Sandusky police detectives are investigating what happened to a man found dead after firefighters discovered the body in a blaze. 86-year-old George Martin was found in the basement of a house in the 2200-block of Campbell Street.Firefighters rushed to the scene around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and found Martin as they were battling the fire.Detective said Martin had suffered multiple stab wounds before house was set on fire.The body was sent Wednesday morning to the coroner's office for an autopsy report to determine the cause of death. The house was not destroyed in the fire, but experienced damage in some parts of the home.The State Marshal's Office is offering a reward for details regarding this case.
