Car lovers and fantatics get the chance to see and showcase some of the greatest cars of yesterday, today, and tomorrow during the weekend.
The 12th Annual Classics on Main Car Show in Bowling Green start Saturday, July 13. Hundreds of cars from as early as 1929 and as late as next yearâ??s model will line Main Street. More than fifty trophies will be awarded in a ceremony presided over by Bowling Greenâ??s Mayor Dick Edwards, with the Best of Show sponsored by Thayer BG Family Dealerships.
The exhibit features experimental cars and electric charging stations, electric conversions, and vehicles powered by butanol, propane and compressed natural gas, along with several commercially available hybrid and electric vehicles.
Representatives of Efficiency Smart will hand-out gifts and information for customers of qualifying utilities companies. Efficiency Smart, a non profit organization, give tips customers can save money through energy conservation
Vehicle registration and parking is from 8 a.m. to noon, and the public event runs from 12 p.m.- 4 p.m. Day-of-show vehicle registration is $15. Vehicle exhibitors receive various perks and are eligible for door prizes. Car Hop delivery service from select downtown restaurants is a new feature of this yearâ??s show.
Public admission is free and, while the vehicles are the main attraction, public address games and concessions add to the festival nature of the event.
