Bride accused of faking terminal cancer for dream wedding, honyemoon

Jessica Vega getting ready on her wedding day

Some women will go to great lengths to have the wedding of their dreams. But few will go as far as 25-year-old Jessica Vega.

A grand jury in Orange County, New York has indicted Vega on charges she lied about having terminal cancer so she could have a lavish wedding ceremony, reception and honeymoon.

Investigators say Vega, pictured here from her wedding day, took thousands of dollars in donated services and goods after claiming she was dying of leukemia.

She married Michael O'Connell in May 2010 and they spent their honeymoon in Aruba.

But several months later, O'Connell discovered his new wife was faking her illness and divorced her. He moved to Virginia but she later joined them. They have two children.

She has pleaded not guilty and is being held in the Orange County Jail on $10,000 bond.

If convicted what do you think would be an appropriate punishment? Do you think she should be forced to give back all the donations? Post your comments below or on WNWO's Facebook Fanpage.
