Saturday is a special day for the Toledo-area as local businesses gear up with special deals and activities for â??419 Day.â??
The annual celebration of all things Toledo will feature fun for all ages throughout the area.
The Warehouse District Association will challenge customers to complete a punch card by visiting downtown bars and restaurants as part of its â??Passportâ?? program. 419 Day is designed to put Toledoâ??s businesses on full display and to encourage economic growth.
â??I think it's great for the city,â?? said Branden Howard, General Manager at Cock Nâ?? Bull Tavern. He continued, â??It will get some people who are thinking about opening up their own business down here to come down and see that itâ??s not the downtown it was 10 or 12 years ago and that itâ??s actually starting to pick up.â??
Other activities include a Makerâ??s Mart craft fair at the former International Boxing Club on Adams Street and the Arts Commissionâ??s Gallery Loop. Local record stores will also spin customerâ??s special deals on vinyl and the Toledo Farmerâ??s Market will offer discounts on fresh produce.
