The city of Perrysburg hopes congestion at a busy intersection will be eased by a pricey facelift.
Beginning next week, drivers may face long delays at the intersection of State Route 25 (Dixie Highway) and Eckel Junction Road. The city will begin a $2 million road widening project aimed at easing congestion.
The plan was put in place while wholesale giant Costco was in talks to bring a store to the area. The Washington state based company plans to build their store at the same intersection.
The city plans to add four turning lanes throughout the intersection, while also lengthening the current lanes already in place. The intersection, located just off I-475/U.S. 23, is prone to congestion due to its proximity to local businesses and shopping centers, with Eckel Junction also serving as a major connection to many homes and neighborhoods.
Traffic is expected to be maintained during the construction period, which is to last from mid-July through December. However, drivers are being advised to choose alternate routes when possible.
