O ver a week after a fire forced Dundee's Cabela's store to close, the popular outdoors outfitter is planning its re-opening.
Cabela's, just off US 23 in Dundee, has been closed since experiencing a small electrical fire on Wednesday, April 24. The building did not suffer any structural damage, but has been closed for cleaning and restocking of all products.
The store says it will re-open on Friday, May 3 at 4 p.m.
"Our team is eager to get our store put back together," said Joe Ross, general manager for the Dundee Cabela's. "We can't wait until we can open the doors and welcome our customers back.
Store employees have worked around the clock to restore the outdoors superstore to its original condition.
"Many of our employees have taken personal ownership of this project," Ross said. "It's almost like it happened in their house. This event has allowed our team to pull together. It has made our family stronger."
All merchandise damaged by the fire, smoke and the compound from fire extinguishers has been removed from the store and will be replaced with new inventory that will meet the quality standards Cabela's customers expect.
"We want to assure everyone our goal is to open the Dundee store as soon as it is safe to do so," Ross said. "And as soon as we can provide the legendary shopping experience Cabela's is known for."
