Campaign launched for horse therapy group after barn fire

A fire destroyed a barn and killed 10 horses at Vail Meadows Equestrian Center on Thursday.

Oregon community members have banded together to help a non-profit organization that lost all but one of their therapy horses in a barn fire early Thursday.

On Saturday, March 30, Icons Eatery and Entertainment, located at 3150 Navarre Avenue, will host a spaghetti dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. Icons will donate the food for the event so all proceeds collected will go to Vail Meadows Equestrian Center. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.

Icons will also host the Vail Meadows Benefit Golf Scramble on Saturday, May 18 at Eagle's Landing Golf Course in Oregon. The event will feature a four-person scramble with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. and dinner immediately after. Details are forthcoming.

Finally, a 5K race called "Run for the Meadows" will also benefit Vail Meadows on May 25. More details can be found at

For those wishing to donate now, funds have been set up at the First Federal Bank on Navarre Avenue in Oregon and Promedica Federal Credit Union on Central Avenue in Toledo. Donations are being given to the name Vail Meadows Therapy Riding.
