Ohio State troopers pulled over a vehicle driven by a Michigan man Wednesday morning and found nearly one-half million dollars worth of drugs inside.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says James C. Statzer, 43, of Buchanan, Mich., was driving a rented Mercury Grand Marquis on the Ohio Turnpike around 9:00 a.m. when he was pulled over for a marked lanes violation near milepost 55 in Springfield Twp. Troopers say a Patrol drug-sniffing dog alerted them to the vehicle after they observed criminal indicators.
Troopers seized 182 pounds of marijuana, valued at more than $412,000, from inside the car. Buchanan was arrested and faces felony drug charges. He could face up to 16 years behind bars and a $30,000 fine.
