The Lucas County Canine Care & Control department will hold an End of the Year Adoption Extravaganza Adopt-a-thon on Saturday.
The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 410 S. Erie St.
Full or partial adoption fees for over 40 select dogs have been sponsored by individuals and local businesses to help them find homes before the new year.
Adopters of any of these sponsored dogs will have a reduced adoption fee.
The first several adoptions of the day will include complimentary care packages to go along with their special friend.
â??We currently have about 60 dogs up for adoption, all looking to start a new life for the new year! As always, we have a wide variety of dogs available in all shapes and sizes!â?? said Control Director Julie Lyle. â??Some of these dogs have been waiting quite awhile for a family of their own, and we really want them to have a chance to spend the New Year holiday with a loving family.â??
The adoption fee includes the spay/neuter surgery, initial vaccines (distemper/parvo, rabies and bordetella), worming, microchip and registration, physical exam and behavioral evaluation.
The license fee in Lucas County is $25.
Cutie (of Cutieâ??s Fund fame) will be on site as well signing paw-tographs and accepting donations for Cutieâ??s Fund. This fund raises money for dogs that arrive at the LCCC&C with a significant illness or injury and allows many of these dogs to be treated, recover and find new homes.
Adoption sponsors for this event include LCCC&C volunteers and staff; Don Parks of Black Swamp Realty; Rover Come Over; Anthony Wayne Animal Hospital; Letâ??s Train Dog Training; Rayner, Foos, Kruse & Irwin CPAs.
