Capital Care granted new license, can now perform surgical abortions
TOLEDO, Ohio (WNWO) —
Wednesday, Capital Care got the green light to begin performing surgical abortions again.
The Ohio Department of Health granted it a new Ambulatory Surgical Facility license.
Capital Care partnered with ProMedica in February for a transfer agreement.
Capital Care lawyer Jennifer Branch described the legal battle as "long, expensive and frustrating."
She went on to say, "This is a victory for women who need access to safe and legal abortions, and a reminder that despite the odds, never give up."
Capital Care tells NBC 24 that they will wait to begin abortions until the license officially comes in the mail.
