DETROIT (AP) - A prosecutor has brought charges against a 25-year-old man accused of stabbing a deputy, stealing his uniform and walking from a downtown Detroit courtroom.
Abraham Pearson is expected to be arraigned Wednesday on assault with intent to commit murder and other charges.
A tip from the public led to Pearson's arrest Monday night - more than 12 hours after his escape from the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice.
Pearson was one of three prisoners being taken to court. The deputy was stabbed in the neck with the sharpened tip of a hair comb as he was removing Pearson's handcuffs in a holding area.
Police say Pearson carjacked a van and ditched it on the city's east side. Dozens of police from several agencies took part in a daylong manhunt.
