Car crash leaves 3 dead, alcohol believed to be a factor

Jerusalem Township, Ohio (WNWO)-- Three people are dead after a car crash in Jerusalem Township.

Authorities believe it happened sometime Sunday night on Teachout Road and State Route 2, though people nearby said they heard a loud crash around midnight.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, three men in a silver Ford 350 pickup truck were driving south bound on Teachout road when they passed through the intersection, ran off the side of the road, hit a tree, and then over turned.

Twenty nine year old Jamey Metroff, 30 year old Daniel Teet, and 27 year-old Joshua Teet all weren't wearing seat belts.

One of the men was ejected form the carand the other two were found inside.

When authorities arrived to the scene around 8:30 a.m., they pronounced all the men deceased.

Because the damage, the Highway Patrol says they had to stabilize the vehicle in order to get the men out.

The factors before the crash such as speed and blood alcohol content are unknown, but the Patrol says they're working with the Coroners office to determine that information.

The accident is still under investigation.

Crew on scene included: the Jerusalem Township Fire Department, the Lucas County Sheriff's Office, Maumee Bay Park Ranger, and the Ohio state Highway Patrol.
