      Car split in half during Toledo crash

      UPDATE: Sgt. Joe Heffernan of the Toledo Police Department confirmed a 25-year-old man died in the East Toledo traffic crash from Monday night.

      Paul Gonzalez of Toledo was riding in the back of the vehicle when it hit a light pole at high speeds near the roundabout at Glendale and Broadway. He died at the scene.

      The two occupants in the front of the vehicle were taken to University of Toledo Medical Center.

      ORIGINAL REPORT:

      TOLEDO -- Three people were injured, just before 11 p.m. on Monday night in a single-vehicle accident.

      Authorities say the vehicle was going at a high rate of speed before it hit a light pole and split in half.

      The vehicle came to a stop at the roundabout at Glendale and Broadway.

      While officials were investigating the accident the front of the vehicle could be seen in middle of the roundabout.

      The back part of the vehicle could still be seen in the middle of the roadway.

      Investigators at the scene did not know anything about the identity of the victims or the extent of their injuries.
