Card fraud device found on Sylvania ATM

This card skimmer is designed to adhere to the front of the ATM machine and skim the user's ATM debit card as it passes through to the real ATM card reader.

Fifth Third Bank of Sylvania customers beware: Police are on the hunt for the cyber crook who installed a debit card-reading device on an ATM.

The device, called a "skimmer," reads debit cards and pin numbers from cards that are swiped through the machine. The skimmer was found on an ATM at Fifth Third Bank on West Central Avenue near King Road.

Police have not disclosed how long the device was there or how many customers were affected. A Fifth Third spokeswoman said in a statement that the bank is contacting affected customers.
