Case against baby Elaina's mother delayed until October

Angela Steinfurth in court Sept. 25.

The attorney of Angela Steinfurth is asking for additional time to review evidence in the case of baby Elaina.

Angela has appeared several times in court since her indictment on an obstruction of justice charge in July. She has been held at the Lucas County jail.

The next pre-trial hearing will take place Oct. 23.

Steinfurth and her ex-boyfriend, Steven King, are the last people who were seen with baby Elaina prior to her going missing on June 2.

Earlier this month, Toledo Police recovered Elaina's remains which were hidden in an east Toledo garage. The garage was on a property belonging to the King family.

Elaina's funeral services have been scheduled for this Friday and Saturday. The funeral home, Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley at 440 S. Coy Rd. in Oregon, said it will cover all funeral home related expenses.

Elaina's paternal grandfather, Terry Steinfurth, Sr. tells WNWO that services will be open to the public.

Earlier this week, Angela's father, Richard Schiewe, planned to ask the court's permission for his daughter to attend the services.

WNWO reached out to both the Lucas County Prosecutor's Office and Angela Steinfurth's attorney for comment on Schiewe's planned request, neither has responded as of midnight Wednesday.

Steven King's trial is scheduled for Oct. 7.
