Cellphone crackdown law targets truckers, bus drivers

A new law prevents commercial drivers from using a cellphone while driving.

The New Year will involve a lot less ringing thanks to a new national cellphone law.

Starting Tuesday, all commercial drivers, including truck and bus drivers, are banned from using handheld cellphones. The law does allow emergency responders and roadside assistance workers to use mobile devices when needed.

The new law affects an estimated 4 million commercial drivers.
