Child sex trafficking operation nets 100 pimps

The FBI reports its officers rescued 79 children and arrested more than 100 pimps in just 72 hours during operations nationwide, including Toledo.

FBI officers took part in "Operation Cross Country VI" in an effort to stop child sex trafficking. Raids took place in 57 U.S. cities with the help of state and local law enforcement and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

"It is clear that child prostitution and sex trafficking do not just occur somewhere else on the other side of the world," said Ernie Allen, president of NCMEC. "These insidious crimes are occurring in American cities, and the victims are American kids."

Since 2003, more than 2,000 children have been rescued and more than 1,000 people have been convictedâ??including multiple sentences of 25 years to life in prisonâ??and the seizure of more than $3 million in assets.
