Chrysler announces new jobs, shift and SUV for Toledo plant

Chrysler Group LLC confirmed Wednesday they will add a second shift and a new SUV to the Toledo Jeep Assembly Plant, bringing an additional 1,100 jobs to the Glass City.

The automaker's $500 million investment will improve the quality and efficiency of the plant. It's part of $1.7 billion Chrysler will use to upgrade its facilites across the nation in conjunction with the recent UAW contract.

The new shift and Jeep SUV will start in 2013. The plant currently makes Jeep Liberty, Wrangler and Dodge Nitro models and boasts 1,800 employees.
