      Clumsy criminal meets Louisville Slugger

Suspect approaches clerk with beverage and knife. / Toledo Police Department

A Marathon gas station clerk stepped up to the plate Sunday defending himself and store against a would-be robber.

Police say a black male who was 5'10", 150 pounds and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and grey sweats walked into the gas station at 5:19 p.m. The suspect appeared to be casually looking for a beverage. After the man made a drink selection, he approached the counter, but instead of pulling out his wallet, he pulled a knife.

The clerk grabbed a baseball bat and hit the suspect. The man dropped the knife and beverage fleeing the store.

If you recognize this man, contact Crime Stoppers 419-255-1111.
