Collingwood Arts final show to fund residents relocation

Residents of the Collingwood Arts Center are having a final goodbye Saturday by featuring its latest artworks to raise funds after getting evicted earlier this week.

The show will feature the original art work up for sale at 2413 Collingwood Blvd. It takes place Saturday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The proceeds will support the residents and artists who have lost their apartments at the Arts Center. All 28 residents of the arts center received the eviction letter in January, which cited the 19th century infrastructure had "significant plumbing and electrical issues."

Residents were told the necessary renovations would $1 million to fix. The antiquated electrical system is not able to handle the power that is needed, causing fuses to blow out constantly.

Food and drink will be provided at the event.
