A more than $263 million improvement project is underway for Toledoâ??s Collins Park Water Treatment Plant.
The plant is more than 70 years old, but officials say five years of work could sustain the plant for another 70 years. Changes will include two additional basins and improvements to the filter system.
Warren Henry is the new program manager for the water plant upgrades.

â??Rather than spending a billion dollars to build a new facility, we can build a like-new facility for $264 million or thereabouts,â?? Henry said. â??Itâ??s just a prudent use of taxpayer dollars.â??
City officials plan on completing the project by 2020.
