Mayor-elect D. Michael Collins met with residents and city leaders on Saturday to prepare for his transition into office.

Collins recently named a 40-person transition team, organized into committees to help mobilize the platform presented during the campaign. Co-chairs and former Toledo Mayors Jack Ford and Carty Finkbeiner sat side-by-side, along with city council members and other community leaders.

??We??ve got people with experience and people with limited experience,?? said Collins, who will become Toledo??s fourth mayor on January 3. He continued, ??We??ve got one thing in common though, we??ve got energy.??

Some of Collins?? main points will be to hire more police, cut the city budget and executive positions, create jobs and restore neighborhoods. Former Finkbeiner Chief-of-Staff, Bob Reinbolt, will direct five committees, tasked with realizing those goals. The committees include; Labor Relations, Neighborhood/Safety/Community Relations, Business Development, Media Relations, and Parks/Recreation/Urban Beautification.

Each committee plans to report findings and recommendations by mid-December.
