Community leaders concerned about latest round of shootings

Toledo police say they know who fatally shot 17-year-old Deadrick Rocker in Central Toledo last Friday night. Police have named 16-year-old Davion Wilson as the prime suspect in a shooting that killed Rocker and left another teen in critical condition. Reverend D.L. Perryman of Center of Hope Baptist Church remembers Rocker. "He has been to our church and he has participated in our summer youth programs," Reverend Perryman said.

Rocker was shot to death at the corner of Tecumseh and Hoag just before midnight Friday. Friends of the slain teen have placed teddy bears, balloons and other remembrances at the spot where he died.

Leslie Robinson, who runs The Greater Toledo Chapter of Parents of Murdered Children, says it is a challenge consoling the family members of murder victims. "A lot of them are wondering when will the pain stop," Mr. Robinson said. Robinson's only son was shot to death in August 2005. Last Friday a second person involved in the incident was sentenced to state prison.
