Cops help kids holiday season a bit brighter

      P olice respond to the call for someone in need all the time. On S aturday the need was for kids at risk of not having a real Christmas holiday.

      T he annual "Cops and Kids" shopping event helps children whose families have financial difficulties. The event took place at the Meijer store in Rossford.

      Over one hundred kids were paired with an officer and given a $100 dollar gift card to spend.

      " Y ou meet some of the toughest police officers you're ever meet and see them getting a little teary eyed and a little chocked up when they take a needy kid Christmas shoppi ng, " explains Northwood Police Sergeant Doug Hubaker.

      T he Wood County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #109 hosted the event which had officers from every county of the area involved.
